DIARY DATES Members are welcome to assist on any of these dates Up coming Events Taster Sessions WEDNESDAY 29th JULY 2009 BARTON MILLS EXCLUSIVE! Professional fisherman BOB NUDD will be attending! We invite Dads and lads and the rest of the family to come along and take part in a fishing and conservation taster session! All children must be accompanied by an adult. Try out a bit of fishing with the support of one our coaches. Children must be aged 6+ to apply and those that live in the Forest Heath District will be given priority bookings. Limited places available. CLUBMARK The society had its first Clubmark review on the 6th April 2009 by Julian Taylor of the Angling Trust. The review went well with the society only needing to complete a few piece of missing documentation. We also need to send two of the committee members on a couple of courses, hopely we will obtain our Clubmark status by late autumn. In order to obtain Clubmark status some chances were made to our constitution at this years AGM. To see these changes go to home page and click on the policy button. JUNIOR SECTION NEWS COMPETITION, TEACH-INS AND OTHER DATES Teach-in dates. 20th June 4th July 18th July 19th Sept 3rd Oct 12th Dec Pike Teach-in Feb 2010 Pike Teach-in date to announced. Match Dates. 14th April - away match, detail TBA 24th June - LAPS/CHMS yrs 5-8, details TBA. 5th Sept - Oliver Parker Cup match. details TBA, If you have any ideas, or any adults would like to help at the Teach-ins please email me KarenCow@aol.com Karen Cowan CATCH REPORTS FOR JAN 2009 BARTON MILLS STRETCH Plenty of roach and gudgeon but small pike a nuisance. Best baits to avoid gudgeon are hemp and breadpunch. Occasional double-figure pike about. Deadbaits best. Along river towards Mildenhall there are plenty of small chub to 1lb weight and some good perch from 1-11/2lbs on lobworm, with the odd better fish. MILDENHALL WHITE STONE STRETCH Excellent for quality roach, dace and small chub, with a few chub up to 3lb. Red maggot and bread best baits. WORLINGTON TO WEST ROW Good for specimen chub. Fish to over 5lb reported recently. A roving approach is required using legered bread or cheese. STRONG TACKLE NEEDED Please send us your catch reports. If you’ve caught a big fish or a good catch from the Society’s waters, please let us know. Email address on last page. TIGHT LINES WARNING AMERICAN SIGNAL CRAYFISH American signal crayfish (orange tipped claws) caught on rod and line MUST be destroyed. Do not return them alive to the water. Fishing for them using any other method, i.e. hand lines and drop nets is only permitted on organized events. Trapping is strictly forbidden.
